With diligence, determination, and planning, you've retrieved all the dwarves' lore books, and uncovered a beautiful mosaic honoring your octopus companion! You shout with joy, the noise echoing off the walls of the treasure chamber, and jump up and down with delight until the ground is shaking. A last lurking goblin flees the ruckus.
When the dust settles, what do you see across the room but some familiar faces...
TEAM CRYSTAL COMES IN SECOND!
You've found all the spark-sprites' belongings! You've also found some of your friends, and are overjoyed to reunite with them and share stories of your adventures.
Together you journey back to the deep tunnels...
But no one's there?
Hm, that's odd.
Puzzled, you turn toward the crystal caverns. But those, too, are empty.
Well, you made your best effort. Guess you get to keep all that loot after all!
Team Tunnel, speedy and strategic, comes in first!
Team Crystal, in a heroic final push, comes in second!
Members of both teams will get one tag claim each for next year's board, and some mix of dwarves, tunnels, and octopi will feature in next year's lore!
But what's happening with the other two teams? Something very special...
As if this quest couldn’t get any worse, there's a deafening roar and the earth starts to shake, knocking over all of the treasures you’ve been trying so hard to gather.
With the treasures knocked off of their pedestals, you can see another group on the other side of the treasure room. You realize in relief that they are some of your former companions, the ones you got separated from at the beginning of this adventure.
After a tearful reunion, you agree that if you work together, you can get this cleaned up in no time. Then you can return the colors to the mermaids and the pretty rocks to the cave trolls, and get the heck out of here and back to the cafe for some stew and soothing shoulder dragon pats.
Introducing Team Magmaid!
The Volcano and Mermaid teams have found each other in the rubble, and agreed to work together to finish their quests. Work caps are lifted. Any work posted to either collection will count for both team boards as well as the shared Magmaid board.
This challenge is optional, and continues through the anon period or until the boards are cleared. Any member of Team Volcano or Team Mermaid who submits two works to their team collection before the end of the anon period will win a tag claim for next year.
All previously giftless people now have gifts, so this officially concludes the main Battleship 2024 game. You have the next 48 hours to edit your works, which will be revealed at 02:00 a.m. Eastern Time on Thursday July 25. Please remove placeholders and otherwise make sure your works are ready to go live!
