The Treasure Hoard
18/7/23 01:12You've heard the legends of Tarina the Fairy's treasure hoard, and now word has gotten around that she's caught up in hassling some adventurers who bothered a couple of her dragons. Maybe while she's distracted, you can sneak into her castle and loot the place.
Huh, you don't even have to sneak in—the door is wide open. Weird. Could it be a trap? But no, there's the treasure room, just like the legends say. You and your fellow treasure hunters find a hundred chests, each of which could hold jewels, gold, books of spells, or other marvels. And it's all just there for the taking.
Each chest is protected by a heavy lock, but any lock can be picked—or, with enough force, broken. What lies inside will be well worth the effort. Adventurer, it's time to begin your new quest!
Grid and list of goals
Main collection | Requests | Prompts | AFIRB search
Thanks to
karanguni for the Automagic App and
notearchiver for the AFIRB search sheet!
Each square on the 10 x 10 grid hides some amount of treasure, and is assigned a goal. The list of goals is displayed below the grid. A goal consists of a number and two targets, such as "16, Future Fic, Graphic Depictions Of Violence." Meet the goal by posting works that claim one (or both) of those tags. Each work must fulfill one of this year's requests or prompts.
Treasure Hunters (which really means anyone who isn't on a team) should post works to the main Battleship collection. Claim relevant tags in your author's note—the mods will only count tags claimed this way. Fic and podfic may claim 1 tag per 100 words. Art may claim all tags that are clearly present in the work. Work labels such as ship type will be claimed automatically.
The collection is moderated, and works will be approved as the mods count them. Once enough works have been approved to clear a square, the treasure will be revealed! Each square is worth between 400 and 1000 gold. There are no work caps for Treasure Hunters; there are no traps to find and no bosses to beat. You're just in it for the money. (And there's nothing wrong with that!)
At the end of the game, the treasure will be redeemed for the prize of selecting tags on next year's board. If the Treasure Hunters collectively find at least 20,000 gold pieces, anyone who contributed 5 or more works to the main collection will be able to claim a tag; if the total is at least 45,000, anyone who contributed 3 or more works will be able to claim a tag; and if you clear the entire board, anyone who contributed 2 or more works will be able to claim a tag.
If you haven't already joined the Discord or claimed your Discord role, now's the time! Your fellow Treasure Hunters will share the group coordination sheet and cheer you on.
Good luck!
